Country
South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea, is a sovereign state situated in the southern part of the Korean Peninsula. Its neighbors are China to the west, Japan to the east, and North Korea to the north. South Korea covers a total land area of 38,691 sq mi and has a population of about 50 million.
Business Economy
South Korea’s economy has charted steady, uninterrupted progress in economic freedom. Recent reforms have put greater emphasis on enhancing regulatory efficiency and ensuring a larger role for small and medium-size enterprises in the economy. South Korea’s dynamic private sector, bolstered by a well-educated, hard-working labor force, continues to capitalize on the country’s openness to global trade and investment.
South Korea is a major international economic power; it has the twelfth largest economy in the world (eleventh largest by purchasing power parity) and the third largest in Asia, behind only Japan and China (fourth behind China, Japan, and India by purchasing power parity). Its largest trading partner and export market today is China. As one of the Four Asian Tigers, it achieved rapid economic growth through exports of manufactured goods

Higher Education
Korean HE institutions are well known domestically, they do not hold significant world rankings and are not household names in the manner of Ivy League schools. Korea has its top 20 and the top three universities are referred to as ‘SKY’, for Seoul National University, Korea University and Yonsei University. Korean students compete for placements based on rankings more so than the quality of the programmes. In Korea, it is important to know the university from which someone has graduated. This alumni connection influences employment opportunities.
Tourism
South Korea, an East Asian nation on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, shares one of the world’s most heavily militarized borders with North Korea. It’s equally known for its green, hilly countryside dotted with cherry trees and centuries-old Buddhist temples, plus its coastal fishing villages, sub-tropical islands and high-tech cities such as Seoul, the capital.
Climate Weather
South Korea generally experiences temperate climate. South Korea has heavy rainfall during summers than winters. South Korea has four seasons in the country. The winters of South Korea are usually cold, long and dry while the summers are hot, humid and short. The spring and autumn are very pleasant but their duration are short. The masses of air from the Asian continent creates a great influence on the South Korea Weather. The movement of air from the Pacific Ocean also exerts pressure on the South Korea Weather.
Required clothing
- The weather in spring (March, April and May), and Fall (September, October and November) is cooler, so long-sleeved shirts, pants and a sweater or jacket will work well.
- In summer (June, July, August) it is hot, humid and wet - so natural fabrics work well.
- December, January and February are very cold so pack your coat, a scarf and gloves, and remember it snows at higher altitudes too.
