Country

Belarus, a landlocked country in Eastern Europe, is known for its Stalinist architecture, grand fortifications and primeval forests. Belarus is situated in the center of Europe on the watershed of the Baltic and Black Seas. The capital is the city of Minsk. Belarus borders on Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine

Business Economy

Belarus is a country located in Eastern Europe with a high human development index and a diversified industrial profile. After the breakup of the USSR, Belarus preserved a relatively well-developed industrial base. Pursuing the strategy of cautious reform with great concern for social welfare and stability, the Belarusian Government was implementing smooth transition from the command to market economy.Belarus has sufficient economic potential and human resources to be a proper member of the world community. The Belarusian people strive to make their land prosperous and flourishing.

Natural Resources

important resources include potash and rock salts, oil, peat, construction materials and raw materials for their production, underground fresh and mineral water.Fuel mineral resources of Belarus include oil, oil gas, peat, brown coal and combustible shale

Higher Education

Belarus has one of the highest student-to-population ratios in Europe. The higher education system in Belarus is seen as prestigious due to its high quality and affordability. Belarusian system of higher education consists of two levels: bachelor and master. It looks similar to the European system, with one rather significant difference. Belarus is the only European country that has not joined Bologna process.

There are four main types of higher education establishments to choose from, which can be either private or state operated:

  • classical university
  • profile university or academy
  • institute
  • higher college

Most courses run for 5 years and students can choose to study full time, at evening classes or by correspondence. All higher education establishments are governed by the Ministry of Education in Belarus.More than 6000 foreign students study at higher education institutions and universities in Belarus every year.In general higher education fees for foreign nationals range from 700-3500 USD, depending on the subject and the institution. All foreign citizens admitted for education should contact the education and methodics department of the higher education establishment to register the temporary stay and temporary residence on the territory of Belarus.

Tourism

Eastern Europe’s outcast, Belarus (Беларус) lies at the edge of the region and seems determined to avoid integration with the rest of the continent at all costs. Taking its lead from the Soviet Union rather than the European Union, this little-visited dictatorship may seem like a strange choice for travellers, but its isolation lies at the heart of its appeal.

While the rest of Eastern Europe has charged headlong into capitalism, Belarus allows the chance to visit a Europe with minimal advertising and no litter or graffiti. Outside the monumental Stalinist capital of Minsk, Belarus offers a simple yet pleasing landscape of cornflower fields, thick forests and picturesque villages. The country also offers two excellent national parks and is home to Europe’s largest mammal, the zoobr (or European bison). While travellers will always be subject to curiosity, they’ll also be on the receiving end of warm hospitality and genuine welcome.

Climate Weather

Belarus has a temperate-continental climate with moderate features which is characteristic for Central Europe, with hot summers, long, cold winters and very distinct seasons. Abundant Snowfall may occur throughout the country from December to sometimes early March. The annual average temperature is about 7°C. In general, there are no significant differences between the districts of Belarus, due to the small size of the country. Daytime temperatures vary from -5-0°C in the winter and 25-30°C in summer months. The winter usually last between 100 and 120 days, and sometimes the weather can be very harsh then, with strong northeasterly winds and snowstorms.
