Romania is a southeastern country situated in the Carpathian Mountains, with several high-elevation ranges and its highest point at Moldoveanu Peak, 2,544 meters (8,346 feet) above sea level. The other geographic zones of Romania include the plateaus of Moldavia and Transylvania, and the plains of Wallachia and Pannonia. Romania has large regions of undisturbed forests, which are home to a variety of plant and animal life.
The Danube River flows along the border with Serbia and Bulgaria, before emptying into the Black Sea at one of Europe's most important deltas. Romania is also home to the Prut, Siret, Olt, Somes, and Mures Rivers. Business Economy
For many centuries Romania's economy was based on agriculture. In the 1930s Romania was one of the main European producers of wheat, corn and meats and it used to be called "the bread basket of Europe." In the 1950s the communist leader of Romania, Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, began developing heavy industry.
There has been a shift towards heavy industries since the 1970s but the agriculture is still economically important and employs about one-third of the workforce.
Romania produces coal, natural gas, iron ore and petroleum but most raw material for the country's large industrial capacity potential are imported. Prominent industries include chemical (petrochemical, paints and varnishes), metal processing, machine manufacturing, industrial and transport equipment, textiles, manufactured consumer goods, lumbering and furniture.
Natural Resources
The principal resources of Romania are agricultural, but the country also has significant mineral deposits, particularly petroleum, natural gas, salt, coal, lignite, iron ore, copper, bauxite, manganese, lead, and zinc.

In the area of higher education in Romania, there exist 64 public institutions. The public institutions include universities, polytechnics, colleges, academics etc. There is also facility for teacher's training and schools for this training have been set up I Romania for the different grades. Tourism
Romania is a southeastern European country known for the forested region of Transylvania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. Its preserved medieval towns include Sighişoara, and there are many fortified churches and castles, notably clifftop Bran Castle, long associated with the Dracula legend. Climate Weather
Romania has a temperate-continental climate with moderate features which is characteristic for Central Europe. with hot summers, long, cold winters and very distinct seasons. Abundant snowfalls may occur throughout the country from December to mid-March, especially if you are in the mountainous areas of Romania
The annual average temperature depends on latitude and ranges from 8°C in the North and 11°C in the South, with temperatures of 2.6°C in the mountains and 12°C in the plains.Daytime temperatures vary from 0-5°C in the winter and 25-30°C in summer months.
Required clothing
Lightweights are worn in summer on the coast and in low inland areas. Warmer clothes are needed in winter and throughout the year in the uplands. Rainwear is recommended throughout the year.
