Slovenia is located in Europe and the country attained independence from Yugoslavia on 25th June 1991. Slovenia follows parliamentary republic form of government. slovenia is located in Central and Southeastern Europe, and consists of 4 major European geographic regions, which are: the Alps, the Dinarides, the Mediterranean, and the Pannonian Plane. Its borders are Austria, Croatia, Italy, and Hungary


Business Economy

Slovenia’s economy benefits from relatively high levels of regulatory efficiency and transparency. Business regulations have become more straightforward, and recent reductions in the corporate tax rate have increased the country’s competitiveness.


Natural Resources

In the process many Slovene mines, including mercury, uranium, lead, zinc, and brown coal mines, have been closed, though the Velenje lignite mine is still important.


Higher Education

n Slovenia, there are several types of higher education institutions, namely universities, faculties, art academies and independent higher education institutions. Today, there are four universities (University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor, University of Primorska and University of Nova Gorica), a public independent institution of higher education (Faculty of information studies Novo mesto), one International Association of universities (EMUNI-EURO Mediterranean University) and 44 private higher education institutions in Slovenia


Tourism

Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, is known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. On Lake Bled, a glacial lake fed by hot springs, the town of Bled contains a church-topped islet and a cliffside medieval castle. In Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, baroque facades mix with the 20th-century architecture of native Jože Plečnik, whose iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) spans the tightly curving Ljubljanica River.


Climate Weather

The climate of the Slovenia can be described as typical European continental influenced climate with warm, dry summers and fairly cold winters, while the coastal areas and the lowlands in the south have a mediterranean influenced climate. January is the coldest month with daytime temperatures usually around zero in the north, but in some cases winter months can be very cold with temperatures far below zero and strong, cold northeasterly winds, called Bora, especially in the mountainous regions, where the weather is strongly influenced by the nearby Alps


Required clothing

Lightweight cottons and linens during summer months; warmer medium-weights to heavyweights and rainwear during the winter. A sweater may be needed in the evenings or for trekking in the mountains, even in the summer.
